Which Camera to Buy: Canon 7Dii vs Samsung NX-1 Epic Shootout Review
MichaelTheMentor will have a lot of side notes coming here shortly. They have even more tests they did, but had to cut it down for time:
- For usability, the NX-1 touch monitor was better than the 7Dii's monitor
- Samsung is doing feature wise, there are some indications the NX-1 is capable of up to 240 fps at 1080 (in their testing but not released). The autofocus refreshes at 240fps for video tracking, but does not record at that rate. Once the h265 issue is resolved, some of the color balance and exposure shifting, the NX1 is going to be a home run winner.
- On the Rack Focus issue. Once a mirrorless camera company resolves this, the writing is on the wall for the end of DSLRs. It is the last major advantage DSLRs still have and will not be easy to overcome, but it will eventually happen.
- Video tracking on both cameras was very good, but also inconsistent and was difficult to get them to fail repeatedly under the same circumstances so it was inconclusive.
