Portraits with strobes in the Mid Day Sun: Using Bad Lighting to Your Advantage with Eric C. Gould

2/22/2012 ISO 1200 Magazine 0 Comments

As photographers we don't alway get to pick the "best" time to take our photos. Sometimes we have to shoot when the light is just plain bad - like high noon - in the middle of the day.

When the sun is high in the sky and producing unattractive harsh shadows. In this video watch Eric and Doug turn the bad lighting into an advantage by turning their model away from the sun and using it as a hair light.

Then using one light as a fill flash to complete the portrait. Two examples are shown.
