New TRIOPLAN - Soap Bubble Bokeh - F2,8 100MM Review

4/29/2016 ISO 1200 Magazine 0 Comments

On this new show I will review for you some weird Lenses that can work on your mirrorless cameras for photos and videos.

I received this box from MEYER-OPTIK-GÖRLITZ and inside is the new trioplan 100mm 2.8 for E mount

They sent it so I can review it for a month. MEYER-OPTIK-GÖRLITZ recreated this lens with a kickstarter campaign that got more than 359 451$

The first Trioplan was released 100 years ago and this new version is based on the original plans of the lens.

Conclusion :

The trioplan is not made to be a realistic lens, it’s more like a creative tool,
Some people will not like the soap bubble bokeh and the general look of the lens.

And if you dont like it, dont buy it,Ask me what kind of lens you want me to review for the next episodes.

you can help me doing more cool videos reviews by visiting my Patreon page .

The Federation of Black Cowboys: An homage to Richard Avedon by Brad Trent

4/28/2016 ISO 1200 Magazine 0 Comments

Today we have the honor to feature something special " The Federation of Black Cowboys". Written by Mr. Damn Ugly,  also known as Brad Trent  (website), we hope you enjoy with this master class:

This was one of those situations that shows you never know where the flow of your career is gonna take you. Andrew Horton…the Creative Director at The Village Voice…asked if I wanted to shoot some Black Cowboys…in Queens. The Federation of Black Cowboys is a group of urban cowpokes whose goal is to promote knowledge of the “Black West”. Their Ponderosa for the past two decades is a ramshackle stable just off Conduit Boulevard in Howard Beach, but recently their membership has dwindled to around 20 die-hards and now they face losing the license agreement for the stables. Andrew and I wanted my portraits to capture a gritty, iconic essence of what it is to be a Cowboy…and we also agreed that our touchstone style should be an homage to Richard Avedon’s In The American West. So off to Queens we went…

Unlike Avedon, I wasn’t going to drag out the 8×10 and set up a North-Light studio in the shadow of a barn…

Instead, we decided to make a huge wall of soft light by putting up the biggest lights I own…

The only problem is, when you fly a 79″ parabolic light in 25mph wind as we had that day, the shit hits the fan awfully fast. Even with over 100lbs of sandbags on each 50lb Matthews Stand, it was like trying to hold down a racing sailboat in a Regatta! But I didn’t care…Kaz had to deal with it…

But our basic setup was pretty similar to Avedon’s…a simple white seamless set up on the North side of one of the stables…

And here’s how things turned out…

Arthur “J.R.” Fulmore…

“Mama” Kesha Morse…

“Mountain Man” Ellis Harris…

Even though we had always conceived the shoot as a high-contrast Black & White series, we still wanted to see how things looked in color…

…but in the end, the B&W was just too strong, and here’s how it looks in this week’s Village Voice

Thanks to Andrew for giving me the opportunity to hang with some real cool cats…and special thanks to J.R., Kesha and Mountain Man for opening up the stables to a Dude from the City…

What's In The Bag?!! What gear should you bring? by Devinsupertramp

Devin has below a list of all the equipment they use on most their shoots. They are direct links to Amazon, where they bought all the same equipment. These are affiliate links, so if you want to support them , and buy the item off the link, will make a little money off of it.

This is a good image with all Devinsupertramp´s gear.

DevinSuperTramp Youtube Video Gear

You are not charged any extra, and it goes to supporting us, just wanted to make sure you knew ahead of time :) These are all products I stand by 100 percent regardless, and all products we use on a day to day basis. At the end of this list I'll have a link to a blog going into even more depth
about the equipment we use.

Camera Equipment I Use:

Canon 5D Mark III (use for all our behind the scene videos):
http://amzn.to/1Xe3uL3

Devinsupertramp Signature Series Glidecam:
http://amzn.to/1UU9UjC

My Favorite Lenses in Order of used most:
Canon 16-35mm F/4 USM
http://amzn.to/1Xe3KtA

Canon 14mm F/2.8
http://amzn.to/1UUacqQ

Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 II
http://amzn.to/1UUaf5X

Canon 24mm F/1.4L II
http://amzn.to/1UUaj5S

Canon 50mm F/1.2
http://amzn.to/1Xe3XwT

For all our aerial shots, we use the DJI Inspire 1, with two controllers.
http://amzn.to/1UUauhl

Our favorite audio mic for on board camera:
Rode Pro Mic
http://amzn.to/1R8xPMH

We also use B+W circular polarizer. They get rid of the reflections from water, windows, and most plants/green things. We use them whenever the sun is out. When buying a polarizer make sure to get the right size for the lens that you own. I feel if your going to spend the money and buy an expensive lens, it's worth spending the extra money to buy a polarizer of the same quality to match your lens, otherwise your lens won't be as clear. Plan on spending about 124.45€ US for one.

Here's a couple different sizes for common lenses:

77mm.
http://amzn.to/1UUbjH2

82mm
http://amzn.to/1UUbnXp

GoPro Hero4 Black Edition. This is the one we use and recommend.
http://amzn.to/1RIIxno

Freezing the action: Tim Gerges captures crisp sharp images of model mid jump

4/27/2016 ISO 1200 Magazine 0 Comments

Today we have the pleasure to feature "Amy hayward. Portraits of a designer". Written by Tim Gerges (website), we hope you enjoy with this story :

This is Amy. She’s a designer, photographer and as I’m sure you can guess from the pictures, quirky and full of energy. You can see her design work here.

A few weeks back I had the privilege of hanging out in one of Roodebloem’s studios in Woodstock, Cape Town with my friends Dylan and Emma from Lad and Lass photography. They had asked me to spend a day with them showing them the ins and outs of studio lighting.

Although I did manage to get a new profile picture from the day, I’m no model, so we roped in a couple of other people to stand in as test subjects.

Most of these image were shot using the following gear:
  • Broncolor Para 88 for a main light.
  • P70 Reflector bounced into a V-flat for a soft side fill. The basically creates a massive softbox. Often for an even softer light, I’ll use a diffusion material covering the V – but I didn’t want the light too be too soft for these images.
  • Strip light from the back left to create a clip highlight.
  • All of these were powered using 2 Scoro S 3200 packs with Pulso G heads. I also used head extensions on each light- this allowed me to place the lights around the studio without having to hassle with moving the pack all the time. It’s just an easier way to work.

Because of the short flash duration afforded us by the Scoro S, we were about to capture crisp sharp images of Amy mid jump by freezing the action. A flash duration any longer would have created motion blur.

We also had a range of Colorama colour paper rolls as backdrops to keep things interesting… which you’ll see in some of the later posts.

Over the next few blog posts I’ll be posting some pictures using other lighting setups, with some other people.

Photography is magic. Create.

DIY Game of Thrones Ice Wall

4/25/2016 ISO 1200 Magazine 0 Comments

To celebrate the start of season 6 for Game of Thrones Joey Shanks tries to build a miniature Ice Wall using styrofoam.

The most important tool was the hot wire foam cutter which gave me a lot of control when cutting into the huge block of styrofoam.

Light the wall from the bottom so you can create shadows on your wall. That will help sell the scale.

To celebrate the start of season 6 for Game of Thrones I attempt to build a miniature Ice Wall using styrofoam. The most important tool was the hot wire foam cutter which gave me a lot of control when cutting into the huge block of styrofoam. Light the wall from the bottom so you can create shadows on your wall. That will help sell the scale. The 8 foot piece of stryofoam was purchased at hardware store for $25. Hot Wire cutter is by "Hot Wire Foam Factory" for $30.

You may notice some snow composited into these shots. That is just dust particles I captured for a previous episode. Thought the dust worked quite nicely with the miniatures to create realistic snow elements. For the finale I wanted to make the wall fall, and that was achieved by projecting a video of a glacier calving onto my styrofoam Ice Wall. I attempted using nail polish remover to make the wall dissolve but just didn't corporate the way I wanted it to. Many of the stills used in this episode was taking with the Lytro Ilum "Light Field" camera.

Which allows you to capture stills with depth map info. So in post you decide what you want to be in focus and what you want to be out of focus. For most of the images I kept everything in focus, but there are definitely some fun possibilities to explore with this camera. Lytro.com for more info. Street Photographer in a Wheelchair by Anthony Carbajal

4/24/2016 ISO 1200 Magazine 0 Comments

Two years ago, Anthony Carbajal gave up his passion for wedding photography after he was diagnosed at 26 years old with ALS… He is slowly becoming completely paralyzed. He can't carry a camera anymore, but recently he said fuck it and mounted it on his wheelchair.

We would like to reproduce the text that Anthony wrote on his YouTube Channel:

I'M REALLY DOING PHOTOGRAPHY AGAIN!!! Dedicated to my mom.

Huge favor!? ALS is stealing our strength but not our fight and will to live within our home with our loved ones. If 800 people subscribed to my photography for $5 it would cover my mom's full time nurse that she desperately needs $3,800/month.

Please consider supporting us here: www.Patreon.com/CarbajalPhoto

Words cannot fully express our gratitude to you. By subscribing to my photography you will:
1. Be helping me continue photography despite my disability and make more sweet vids like this.
2. Receive access to an exclusive online photography gallery that will give you access to images not displayed to the public. Updated monthly.
3. Permission to download ALL images in the gallery for free!!!
4. I follow all my supporters on instagram + twitter
5. Most importantly, you’ll be directly helping me fund my mom’s nursing care.

If you feel compelled to please consider liking, commenting, subscribing, sharing or even tagging a few of your friends that you think could appreciate my street photography and help us reach our goal ❤️

Much love,
Anthony & Family
