"The Illuminations Project": A combination of innovative techniques to create light orbs and star trails in motion

The Illuminations Project will feature a combination of innovative camera techniques such as motion control, stereoscopic 3D, long exposure, HDR, light painting and time lapse.

 

Light painting styles, such as light orbs and star trails, are bought to life and captured in motion by timelapse photography.

In this behind the scenes film, Michael Richards and Cameron Edser went on a light painting expedition to Second Valley, South Australia. They tested out their newly constructed motion controlled time lapse rig and filmed the whole process, to reveal how these images are created.
