My friend Pucho: Across the country on a Vespa with a 360-degree camera using 8 iPhones

I filmed this interview with WCSH in Portland, Maine just in time for the rain to really pick up for my drive down to the Boston airport.

The route
My name is Gabriel Paez and I am riding my scooter from Seaside, Oregon to Portland, Maine to film 360-degree panoramic video footage for a live stage show that I am developing.

The equipment
I gave Pucho some quick words of encouragement and he starts with an encouraging gusto.

The camera is made of 8 iPhones that I can control with another iPhone that is strapped to my wrist.  I wrote the software to make it all work together.

I drive a 2005 Vespa PX150 named Pucho.

We left Seaside, OR on 9/21/2012 and are headed east.

Day 11: WE MADE IT!!

by the numbers…

3,880 miles traveled
10 mostly clean hotel rooms
3 terrifying rainstorms
36°F lowest temperature
16 million pixels in every frame of video
16 hours of driving on the longest day
$249.63 of premium gasoline
