Forget Your Filters - The Original Method of Tintype Photography Still Wins
Filters are fun and yes, quick. But as an Oakland tintype portrait photographer (Photographer Patrick Demmons, owner of Revival Tintype studios ) proves filters can't come close to the original craft developed in the mid 1800's. It'll cost you around $60 to get your portrait done, that's a bit more than a filter pack, but so worth it.
You know that expression "you look the way I feel"? Well, Richard here captured my mood perfectly. For all you followers out there, in addition to opening at a new location in the @starline_social_club, my wife and I were expecting the birth of our first child. She arrived on Friday night, and I'm not getting much sleep! Feeling blissfully tired and a tad distracted in the studio... One of the amazing things about the Bay Area is the abundance of super smart people who work right at the intersection of art and science and engineering. This is Gus, who makes homemade computers, digital cameras and engineers the computer hardware behind interactive art installations. He's sort of what I imagine the wunderkind from the 80's movie Real Genius would be like, all grown up. @gustavohuber #revivaltintype #wetplate #collodion #tintype #oakland #sanfrancisco #makersmovement #makeportraits
We really felt the love from Oakland this weekend for Revival Tintype Studio's first official #firstfriday Pop-up. Big thanks to the people who came out on Saturday too, like LaFleur and her man Leaf. It's gonna be a busy month, and we're excited to be a part of the Telegraph vibe. Hey Bay Area - Where should we go next?! #revivaltintype #8x10 #tintype #makeportraits #wetplate #collodion #oakland #artmurmur #sanfrancisco #alamedaca 📷 by @revivaltintype & @ryanmccarthy_photography
Just a little over a year ago, I started Revival Tintype Studio in my garage. In the last year I've moved into a studio space, travelled California, met a ton of interesting and gifted people. There have been many ups and downs, challenges and many more to come I'm sure. Through it all I've been truly grateful for all the friends and family who have supported the craft, cheered me along and offered their tireless support. None of this would have been possible without all of you, thanks. Much more to come... #revivaltintype #tintype #wetplate #altprocess #studio #alameda #oakland #sanfrancisco
