Improving your portraits is easy when you understand how dynamic range can impact your images! In this video, Miguel Quiles will shares a simple tip that you can use in both natural light situations and in-studio to get your portrait work to the next level!


General tips: You'll want to ensure you don't underexpose your portraits more than 4 stops as you can run into situations where there's a lot of noise and color shifts in the shadows. 

Also, it's okay to lose details in the highlights if it adds character to the overall image and doesn't contain anything that is vital to the image.
