Photographer Turns Bullied Kids Into The Avengers

Photographer Josh Rossi turns bullied children into characters from the Avengers for his latest project. He was inspired to start the project after his three-year-old daughter received hateful comments online from a project she featured in.

Rossi wants to empower kids like Jackson Sommers to feel confident in themselves and prove bullies wrong.

Today this young Star-Lord, Joshua Walker, turns 12 years old! It is a BIG deal, let me tell you why. Joshua has been bullied for the last 4 years. This is what his mom had to say about it... “We attempted to have a birthday party for him and to invite kids from his school per Joshua’s request. As we were writing out the invitations from the list of kids Joshua gave us, we knew that most of the kids on the list at one point had bullied Joshua. Despite our concerns Joshua said he wanted to forgive these kids and invite them to his birthday party. The day of his party came and after inviting over a dozen kids, none of them showed up. He was very sad and confused why the kids wouldn’t come to his party despite all or most of them giving Joshua a verbal confirmation that they were coming. The following school day Joshua asked a few of the kids why they didn’t come and they just laughed and said that they were never coming in the first place. So, for the last three years Joshua hasn’t had a birthday party. Not only has Joshua been bullied but he’s had racist remarks made to him by school mates. Joshua is half Caucasian and half Mexican, something he is proud of. Kids have said things such as” you and your mom are going to be deported” or “be ready to be kicked out”. Joshua has been through a lot more bullying this year than previous years. Joshua talked about how he was in so much pain and that he was so sad that he just wanted to hurt himself. As Joshua’s parents and hearing this about our son who should be enjoying school and life, it was breaking our heart.” Today, for the first time in 3 years, Joshua will be surprised with a birthday party by his friends, the Avengers of Bullying, from the #infinitywar #waragainstbullying series. 💥 Watch the Avengers of Bullying transformation video: www.fulltimephotographer.com Costumes by @juliewhiteleycostumes Thanks @verotruesocial for making this possible! 💥 #herewecome #avengersinfinitywar #cosplay #starlord #bullyingawareness #chrispratt 💥@jamesgunn @prattprattpratt @guardiansofthegalaxy

Whenever Grant Southam would walk past kids at school every day, they would yell "the retard is here!" while beating their chests. This is what Grant's mom told us... "These kids were mentally torturing my son. I think the saddest part is that he couldn't even get away from it when he left school. At church, another group of boys in his class also decided that since everyone else was treating my son like garbage, they should join in the festivities. He came home from church one Sunday, once again, hysterical because some of the boys pulled his chair out from under him when he went to sit down. He smacked his head on the chair and began to cry while they all just laughed." I decided to turn Grant into Iron Man because he is smart, strong, and has dealt with his own struggles like a true hero 🤛 Grant is deciding to share his story and stand up against bullying, letting others know that they are not alone, and things get better. 💥 Read the rest of the stories of the Avengers of bullying in www.fulltimephotographer.com 💥 #herewecome #infinitywar #waragainstbullying #robertdowneyjr #cosplay #ironman #bullying 💥 @robertdowneyjr @marvel_entertainment @edglavin @marvelstudios

Mia is the next member of this awesome group of kids in the #infinitywar #waragainstbullying series. She is brave, courageous, not afraid to stand up for what is right. She is inspired by Wanda, “Scarlett Witch”.💥 Mia's start in 8th grade was rough the first week into the new school year. She said "I was surrounded by my peers and threatened physical harm. My days that followed grew even more difficult as I was just tormented by a group of individuals on a daily basis. I faced belittling, mocking, threats, and being choked on campus. As a growing teen I wondered "what I am doing?, why me?" "I am standing up, fighting back, making my voice heard. I would like others to know that bullying is serious and never be scared to reach out and tell others. Do not allow others to silence you and dismantle your self-confidence."- @miamarie_v . Jackson is missing about 35% of his cerebellum. Due to this damage it has made things in Jackson's life more difficult than others. When Jackson was in first grade, kids were noticing he was different. He looked normal, but his body didn't move the same as theirs and his personality wasn't the same as theirs. Jackson’s mom says “Another mom told me that her son said Jackson was being bullied. Kids would push him down and spit on him.” They wouldn't let him join in on their games. Jackson works hard and fights to get his body to do things some said were impossible, just like Dr. Strange! 💥 He hopes to meet his hero one day. 💪 amazing costumes by @juliewhiteleycostumes Watch Jackson as #doctorstrange and see how the @avengers inspired him and a group of incredible kids to stand up against bullying in the #infinitywar #waragainstbullying series at www.fulltimephotographer.com @marvelstudios @scottderrickson @therussobrothers @prattprattpratt @chrishemsworth @elsapatakyconfidential @edglavin #stompoutbullying #unite #herewecome
