TeamBowens photographer and lighting educator Wayne Johns (website) demonstrates how to use the clam-shell lighting technique for beauty photography. In this tutorial Wayne shows how we can break away from the usual thinking process and get creative with a standard light shaper - the softbox.

Wayne also outline's the importance of lighting and model placement to ensure correct exposure, and also show's how to correctly 'fill' certain areas in order to get a really crisp, clean look with a softbox.

Wayne explains in detail each part of his lighting setup and describes how and why he uses each light shaper in this set-up.
